FAQ

How do I use Motives Eye Prime?
Apply a small amount directly to eyelids, from lash line to brow bone, with paddle applicator. Blend out, using your finger or the eye brush of your choice. Allow time for primer to soak in before applying eye shadow over it.
 
Pro Tips:
  • Always apply your Motives Eye Prime immediately before or right after you apply your face primer (before any makeup); this allows the primer time to melt into skin and activate
  • Mix a little Motives Eye Prime with pressed pigments to create your own custom cream shadows
  • This eye primer dries quickly, so make sure to blend and move where you want it right after you apply 
  • Don’t overdo it; a little bit goes a long way
 
Can I wear Motives Eye Prime without eye shadow?
Yes. The primer helps eliminate shine on the eyelids, so it’s great for creating a smooth, “no makeup” makeup look.
 
Why should I use an eye primer?
The eyelids produce natural oils that can cause eye shadow to crease, cake or flake. Eye primers help to combat oil and smooth out imperfections, giving you a clean canvas for eye shadow application.

Lasts all day/night!

This primer is incredible! I have oily & slightly hooded lids and so inevitably my eyeshadow creases after a few hours. I’ve tried everything! I put this to the test and even slept in my eye makeup and still no creases! I’m a believer. A little goes a long way and this can also be layered with the other Motives eye base, which gives eyeshadow color more of a pop. Now I can have the best of both worlds!

Disappointed

I have always loved your small container of eye primer. It’s my go to for hooded eyelids. I was excited to try your new one, thinking application would be easier . But seriously it seems to be barely existent with a poor quality applicator I was thinking mine was defective?? Oily texture without a base . I will go back to my old school

Thank you for your feedback regarding our new Motives Eye Prime.
Our new primer takes a more translucent approach, making it great for all skin tones. It melts into skin easily so you will not be able to see it on the skin like the Eye Base. The plush paddle applicator was selected for easy application on the go to apply directly to eye lid. It is meant to be blended into the skin with either a brush or your finger.
We do offer some Pro Tips on how to use under the FAQs on our website if you are interested in checking them out. We kept both options in the Motives line in case preference was different so glad we still have that option available to you.
